Utica Sunday Globe n.d. but 1897, Utica - Broadside flyer (23.5cm.); uniformly toned else Fine. Announcement of the coming execution of the 24-year-old medical student William Henry Theodore Durrant (a.k.a. The Demon of Belfry), found guilty of murdering Blanche Lamont and Minnie Williams "in a Church where [they] worshipped, and then sought to implicate the pastor." The flyer gives the execution date as November 12, though Durrant would not be hanged until January 7, 1898. The text also promises that the Globe "of November 13 will contain a full account of his remarkable crime and his Jekyll and Hyde life, together with special photo-engravings illustrating the horrible story of murder at which the whole world stood aghast."
