Original full mottled calf leather bindings with beautiful gilt decoration to spines, black morocco spine labels. Outer gilt dentelles. Marbled endpapers. Speckled edges. In good conditions. Boards are rubbed and hinges a little weak in places; front hinge on vol.1 cracked and both hinges cracked on vol.3. Corners bumped, some nicks and chips to leather around edges and on boards. Some areas on minor darkening and offsetting opposite plates. Some odd foxing spots to pages and some minor darkening to plates. Maps bright with lovely bright colouring. Else a clean and tight set. 809pp & 1038pp & 478pp + 160pp Continuation. Engraved frontis and decorative engraved title page and 46 B&W copper-engraved plates, some folding, including numerous portraits (of Napoleon, Nelson, The Duke of Wellington, etc.), and 19 coloured engraved maps.
