London: Smith, Elder, & Co., 1898 - Octavo (200 x 136 mm). Mid-20th century red calf by Bayntun-Riviere of Bath, raised bands with gilt decoration to spine, labels to spine, double rules to sides, turn-in gilt, marbled endpapers, all edges gilt. Other than a small abrasion to front cover, a fine copy. Frontispiece with tissue guard, 19 engraved plates. An attractively bound copy of Vanity Fair, first published from January 1847 to July 1848, with Thackeray's original illustrations.
