London: Chapman and Hall,, [c.1875]. Octavo (213 x 135 mm). Contemporary red half calf, green label lettered in gilt to spine, spine gilt to compartments, marbled sides, endpapers and edges. Portrait frontispiece with tissue-guard, 39 engraved plates. Mudie's Select Library stamp to front free endpaper. Spine slightly faded, covers slightly scuffed, a little discolouration to front cover, rubbing to edges, light foxing to contents. An excellent copy. An attractively bound copy of Dickens's classic, first published in book form in 1839. Dickens's third novel "has some title to being the funniest novel Dickens ever wrote; it is perhaps the funniest novel in the English language" (Peter Ackroyd, Dickens, pp. 262–3).
