London: Ellis and Scrutton, 1886 - 2 volumes in 4, large octavo. Original japon backed blue boards, white paper title label to each spine, pages uncut. Small blot to title page of the first part, light crease at corner of the frontispiece, mild browning to the terminal leaves in each volume, tips of the odd board a trifle rubbed, scuff to upper board of the fourth part, spines a little tanned and with the occasional nibble to the heads and tails. An excellent set. Frontispiece portrait of the author to first volume. First edition, large paper issue, one of 25 copies only on handmade paper and bound in four parts. With a pencilled note on the front free endpaper dated March 1887 stating this to have been the first set delivered to the publishers and given by one of them – Albert Ellis – to the writer of the note.
