Spine has title in gilt, edges bumped and worn, a little grubby and worn, slightly cocked. Internally, frontis (with guard), [7], (viii-xxvii), [1], [1], 2-(xxvii), [1], 403 pp, 18 pl (of 19 lacks the map of the Arctic regions, 1 folding with 2 scenes), [3] adverts, library stamp to fep (Penbedw Library), small water stain to edge of lower margin of titlepage, this has carried over to the margins of the Bellot Strait plate which has torn a little at margin with a tiny loss, plates include illustrations, maps and charts. Better than it sounds. (Folio, 140*220 mm). Sir Francis Leopold McClintock (1819-1907) was a British admiral and Arctic explorer.
