London: John Lane at the Bodley Head, 1896. First Edition. Octavo., pp. 123, advertisements pp.16. Bound in publisher's tan cloth, foliate motifs to corners of upper, gilt titles to spine and front board. Illustrated with six plates by Laurence Housman. Binding is rubbed, bumped to corners and spine ends. With some marginal foxing, browning to endpapers. Part of a trio of literary siblings, Clemence Housman wrote three novels, and illustrated a number of others. The six illustrations are by her brother, Laurence. The Were-Wolf has been described a feminist tract, unusually featuring a female werewolf, and has been further interpreted as an allegorical erotic fantasy.
