Martin Luther King Memorial
New York: M.U.S.T., [ca. 1968]. First edition. Oblong, stapled wrappers; [32] pp.; illustrations, photograph. A scarce memorial booklet honoring the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. issued by M.U.S.T. (Metropolitan Urban Service Training), an ecumenical organization centered in NYC. The book collects 29 testimonials from a wide range of activists, academics, religious leaders, writers, journalists, etc., including John Oliver Killens, William Kunstler, James Lytol (SNCC), Lincoln Lynch (United Black Front), Paul Krassner ("The Realist"), John Henrik Clarke, Rev. Marvin Chandler, James Farmer, Prof. Robert F. Browne, Ella J. Baker, Keith E. Baird, Paule Marshall and others. George W. Webber, the founder of M.U.S.T. writes the concluding elegy. The epilogue is an excerpt from John Oliver Killens' novel 'Sippi (1967). Some errant pen marks and doodling to front and rear wrappers; a touch of marginal dampstaining to the first few leaves, a VG copy overall. No other copies currently in commerce; we find just two copies in WorldCat at Emory and the Univ. of Connecticut.
