How the Single Tax would Affect the Tax Rate in San Francisco..
[San Francisco: no publisher, 1895. Good. Octavo. [4]pp. Browned and fragile, per paper quality, splitting along seam, good. This flyer declares: "Unjust taxation makes hard times. For both business men and laborers." The flyer goes on to support good wages for good working men and accuses Labor Commissioner Tobin of causing the downfall of the state's woolen manufacturing. The Single Tax Society also wanted to eliminate taxes from improvements and wanted there to be simply a land tax. Single Tax Societies were formed across America in the mid-1890's as Henry George's economic theories were promoted. George saw a practical implementation of his single tax theory in the experimental village of Arden, a Delaware community that still proves today the viability of George's theory at a local level. Not in OCLC.
