1845 91pp ms. on both sides of 46 4to sheets, illustrated throughout with well executed watercolours; sl. dusted but nice and clean overall. Contemp. marbled card boards, paper label on front board 'Scrap Book vol. I'; expertly rebacked with maroon morocco, lacking corner pieces, strengthening to inner following hinge. Inscribed on inside of front board: 'M. Weston Muggridge, January 1845'.An attractive and accomplished juvenile commonplace book by Matthew Weston Muggridge of Monmouthshire, most likely created during his early to mid teenage years. The illustrated verses include 'The Battle of Trafalgar', 'Ode on the death of a favourite cat', 'The gladiator' (from Childe Harrold's Pilgrimage), 'Henry II', 'Richard II', and 'The death of Julius Caesar'.
