The Whopper (Double Signed By The Author)
The First UK Printing published by Ernest Benn (London) in 1967. The BOOK is in Very Good++ condition. The original green coloured cloth boards are clean and the silver titling remains very bright. Some age related toning and marking to the text block. Free from inscriptions. Some light markings to the edges of pages 19-29. Light offsetting to the end papers. The WRAPPER is complete and is in Very Good ++ or better condition. A little creasing and rubbing to the spine ends. Correctly priced at 11s 6d to the lower front flap. Minor rubbing to the spine and front spine fold. The wrapper design looks very striking in the removable Brodart archival cover. The book has been Signed by the author and illustrator 'D j Watkins-Pitchford' and 'BB' to the title page. Denys James Watkins-Pitchford was a British naturalist, an illustrator and a children's author under the pseudonym 'BB'. He won the 1942 Carnegie Medal for British children's books. Wonderful B/W illustrations throughout by Watkins-Pitchford. Housed in a custom green slipcase. One of the scarcest 'BB' titles and especially more-so with such attributes. Collectible.
