(RAUSCHENBERG, ROBERT). Forge, Andrew & Robert Rauschenberg. RAUSCHENBERG. New York: Harry N. Abrams, Inc., 1970. First Edition. Oblong 4to. Illustrated Boards. Artist Monograph. Very Good/No Jacket. 236pp, profusely illustrated in monochrome gravure and color. Designed by Robert Rauschenberg. With an autobiography and bibliography. In a protective clear acetate dustwrapper. Published in 1970 by Harry N. Abrams, Inc., this is the beautifully illustrated, comprehensive first monograph on the pioneering late American artist Robert Rauschenberg. Innovatively designed by Rauschenberg himself, it features a lengthy, insightful text by Andrew Forge that begins on the front cover as well as a stream-of-consciousness autobiographical entry penned by the artist. A handsome example of the full-sized 1970 first Harry N. Abrams, Inc. edition printed in Japan of this important document in a replacement acetate jacket showing some very mild sunning to the spine, light wear and abrasion along the extremities of the boards, some typical vertical creasing along the printed index to the illustations folded over the foredge of the textblock, and the discreet ink ownership stamp of a noted art historian to the inside rear board. It has been priced accordingly. PLEASE NOTE: Additional shipping costs are required for this item beyond our standard rates due to its weight and value - we will inform you of the applicable amount at time of purchase. 0-8109-0430-6 Inventory Number: 025801
