William Carter, Boston 1860 - VG book. NEAR FINE internally, including pastedowns & eps. Gilt author/title on upper cover with & gilt Crimea award at center. All edges gilt. Covers in a rich brown, all upper cover gilt very bright. Yellow pastedowns & eps. Frontis a tissue guarded plate of Nightingale. Neatly & clearly inked at title page top: "Mrs Bessie Bell Barden December 1862". Internally FINE BUT about every fifth leaf with a single spot of foxing. Covers would also be FINE but for worn extrems and a single 1/4" chip out of center spine. BUT the wear on the spine ends is down to the text block. For photos look for this entry on ABEBOOKS.
