SONGS OF THE SAGUENAY
Self-published, 1926. Collector's Private Edition. Signed. This collection of self-published poems was issued in ordinary wrappers, as well as in this extraordinary signed edition limited to 100 copies of which this is #32. The author charmingly "certifies" that ~"[t]he cover is made from the hide of Moose, hunted for me and cured by the Indians of Lake St. John; [t]he Decorations on the cover were worked by the Indian women of Pointe Bleu to my order; [t]he binding is done with lacing made from the hide of Cariboo, hunted for me and cured by the Indians of Lake St.-John District; [t]he leaves of Birth bark were gathered by the same Indians and from 10,000 sheets only 1200 were suitable for the purpose". The poems printed on birch bark are interleaved with photographs. This copy was sold to Mr. J. E. Ellis of Arvida on Christmas, 1927 and transfered by him to A. S. Roberts of St. John N.B. on that same day. A remarkable binding and printing feat. Signed by F. Percy Smith.
