Jesus Sandals (Momart Annual Gift multiple)
Momart, Ltd., 2010. Artist's multiple. Cut, folded, and glued corrugated brown cardboard with a piece of white fake lamb's wool sandwiched inside. Intentionally crude execution, made to resemble a joined pair of sandals. Inherent creases in the cardboard with a few small tears, also presumably part of the process of making it. Included are two pages of expanation about both the artist and the program. One of the pages is an excerpt from Georges Batailles' "Vision of Excess." Still in the original box and tissue paper as shipped by Momart, Ltd. Each year Momart commissions a leading British artist to produce a multiple. The entire series, of which this is only one, features works by artists as varied as Howard Hodgkin, Lucian Freud, David Hockney, Ron Mueck, Sarah Lucas, Barry Flanagan, and many others, and is included in several museum collections.. Cardboard and Fake Fur. Fine Condition. 11 3/4 x 6 x 1 1/2 Inches.
