Rare Antique Print-BASKET OF FLOWERS-ROSE-LILY-INSECT-Allard-Schenk-c. 1690
- This very rare and large original print shows: a basket with flowers (roses, passion flower, lilies) and various insects. Etching/engraving on a verge type handlaid paper. Description: Separately published master print, published ca. 1690 in Amsterdam. Our definition of master print is a seperately published print or series of prints, not being an illustrative print to a text. These can both be prints made by old masters (artists) or prints made by others (artists, engravers, etchers) after old masters.Artists and Engravers: Publisher: 'Pet: Schenck exc: Amstelod.: cum Privil: ord: Holland: et West-Frisia. (Published by Petrus Schenck in Amsterdam under privilage of the States General of Holland and West-Friesland.) This print is similar to engravings by Carel Allart (1648-1709) after Cornelis Danckerts II (1664-1717). The publisher of this work is Pieter/ Petrus Schenk / Schenck the elder (1660-1711/1713) was a German engraver and cartographer active in Amsterdam and Leipzig. Condition: Very good given age. A crease in the top of the plate (not affecting image), sheet a little browned, remains of attachment to carrier to the rear, a horizontal fold (flattened). General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully. Storage location: LA-P6-03 TPC The overall size is ca. 17.3 x 22 inch. The image size is ca. 16.5 x 21.9 inch. The overall size is ca. 44 x 56 cm. The image size is ca. 42 x 55.5 cm.
