Graf & Soret, London 1833 - Proof portrait on india paper of the engraver, lithographed by Richard James Lane and printed by Graf & Soret. Heath (1757 - 1834) was an English engraver who enjoyed the patronage of a succession of British monarchs, including George III. He is noted for his contribution to Boydell's Shakespeare Gallery and his large plates after American artists Benjamin West ("The Death of Nelson") and John Singleton Copley ("The Death of Major Pierson"). 7 1/4 x 9", laid down on heavier paper 9 3/4 x 12 1/2". A faint bit of foxing at left margin, not affecting the image; a closed tear at left margin only repaired on verso. Image NPG D22390. (British National Portrait Gallery.). [Attributes: Soft Cover]
