With an index, appendix, frontispiece engraving of the author, occasional wootcut illustrations and 10 fine hand-coloured plates facing p.878. In contemporary brown full calf with raised bands and gilt titles to black label on spine. Light brown endpapers. frontispiece heavily spotted; more light spotting around plates towards rear. Head and tail caps pulled; heavy wear to spine with some rubbing to joints. Good overall. A revised version of the 'Practical Gardener', first published in two volumes in 1828. McIntosh was a major authority on Greenhouses and Hothouses throughout his career, and was employed for more than a decade by Prince Leopold of Belgium.
