John Hawkins was one of the great highwaymen of his day. Wilson gave evidence against Hawkins and Simpson (Sympson), an associate, when they were tried for the notorious Bristol Mail Robbery. (They were convicted and hanged.) As an interesting aside, the pamphlet discusses a time when Hawkins and Wilson visited Oxford and vandalized several paintings in the Bodleian Library. This account went through three more editions in 1722, another in 1723. All are scarce. OCLC Locates 2 copies of the first edition in North America (University of Minnesota, Yale Law School). English Short-Title Catalogue T115877.
