Under the Pines and Other Poems
Winchester, VA: The Eddy Press Corporation, 1906. Cloth. Near Fine. INSCRIBED BY ARCHIBALD RUTLEDGE IN YEAR-OF-PUBLICATION on the front free endpaper. ADDITIONALLY, AT THE FOOT OF THE SAME PAGE, APPEARS AN ORIGINAL 4-LINE POEM BY ARCHIBALD RUTLEDGE IN HIS HAND: "Depths of quietness will come/In the day's delirium:/Thoughts of mountains, rivers, seas,--/Dreams of peace in all of these." A tight, unusually crisp copy to boot of the 1906 1st edition of probably the author's 2nd book (in all likelihood following "The Heart's Quest" {purportedly published in 1904}). Sharp and Near Fine (with bright, completely unflecked gilt-titling to the front panel) in its dark-green cloth, with just a touch of light scuffing along the rear panel. Octavo, 43 pgs., deckled fore-edge.
