London: Edwin Dalton,, [1900]. Landscape folio. Original blue quarter cloth, spine lettered in red, paper sides, front cover decoratively printed in red and black. Illustrated half-title, title page and contents leaf, 11 full-page illustrations to the text, all in colour. Extremities rubbed, sides slightly scuffed and marked, small chip to lower inner corner of paper on front cover to no loss of image, front free endpaper with a small hole and a few faint adhesive marks, light circular impression to half-title, slight tenderness to joint between pp. 39 & 40, isolated marginal marks to no effect, illustrations bright and fresh. A very good copy. First edition. Edward Verrall Lucas's verse finds expression in the the drawings of Francis Donkins Beford: a lovely survival from the Golden Age of book illustration.
