Bibliotechnaia rabota v Krasnoi Armii [Librarianship in the Red Army]
Izdanie Bibliotechnogo Otdela Politichesko-Prosvetitel'nogo Upravleniia Petrogradskogo Voennogo Okruga, Petrograd 1920 - Octavo (20.5 × 15 cm). Original printed wrappers; 47 pp. Wrappers lightly discolored and stained; else very good. A fascinating guide for training librarians and equipping mobile libraries for fighting units of the Red Army, the "armed avant-garde" of the Russian Revolution. The author demands that even the smallest collection of books must be organized according to the political and propagandistic principles established by the First All-Russian Congress on Non-School Education (May 1919). He also includes a bibliography on librarianship, bibliography, and pedagogy, as well as a protocol for inspecting and describing Red Army regiment libraries, along with a five-page sample description of such a library. No information appears available about the author of this work, who wrote two other guides for librarians (according to the publisher's advertisement on the rear wrapper). A rare document on the history of "military" librarianship during the upheavals of the Soviet Civil War. Not located in KVK or OCLC. [Attributes: Soft Cover]
