Private Life Of The Virgin Queen
Comyns (Publishers) Ltd, London, 1947. First Edition. Hardcover. Good Condition/No Dust Jacket. William Comyns Beaumont, also known as Comyns Beaumont, (1873-1956) He also used the pseudonym, "Appian Way". Beaumont was an eccentric with several unusual beliefs, many of which were linked to British Israelism. Beaumont's astronomical speculations were later mirrored by Immanuel Velikovsky's works. According to Frank Joseph: "Beaumont's work was taken over entirely by Immanuel Velikovsky in his famous Worlds in Collision (1950), which elaborated on the possibility of a celestial impact as responsible for the sudden extinction of a pre-Flood civilization." Comyns Beaumont was also the maternal uncle of author Daphne Du Maurier, and arranged for the initial publication of her writing, although it has to be said she did not, publicly at least, appear to be overly impressed by his work. She produced her own biography of Francis Bacon, somewhat at odds with Comyn's Beaumont's The Private Life of the Virgin Queen. At no point did she ever suggest that Sir Francis was anyone other than Sir Francis. Contents: I. The Secret II. Early Indiscretions of a Princess III. A Wedding in the Tower IV. Amy Robsart V.
