"Chief" Marvin Rainwater - he was 25% Cherokee - was one of the biggest country and rockabilly stars of the late 50s, with notable hits "Gonna Find Me a Bluebird" and "Whole Lotta Woman." This collection of fan club material, dating from before Rainwater's commercial success, includes: -Reproduction of black-and-white headshot photograph, inscribed to the fan club member, "To Mrs Swayne, your pal, Marvin." - Marvin Rainwater Fan Club Newsletter. 10 pp mimeograph, printed rectos only, stapled covers - "A Note from Marvin Rainwater," printed note with autograph salutation. Rainwater complains about being broke, but vows to persevere and make his fans proud. "Please keep on being my friend and remember - I love you forever. Your Marvin." - "I Gotta Go Get My Ba-xo!-by." Mimeograph typed song lyrics. - 1 p. mimeograph typed letter from Marvin to his fans, suggesting they can help his career by requesting his songs from jukebox and record store owners - 1 p. mimeograph typed letter from Marvin to his fans, asking them to send in song ideas, promising the best idea will be used in one of his songs ("the winning entry will receive one half of all writer's royalties and privileges").
