HISTORY OF KNOX AND DAVIESS COUNTIES from the Earliest Time to the Present; with Biographical Sketches, Reminiscences, Notes, etc; With an Extended History of the Colonial Days of Vincennes, and its Progress Down to the Formation of the State Government
Goodspeed Publishing Company, Chicago 1886 - 914 pages to this very scarce ORIGINAL (not reprint or fascimile) edition of this exhaustive history of two of the earliest settled Indiana counties, originally by the French of Louisiana. For provenance ffep is inscribed John C. Bever MD 1819-1903, Almira C. Wood Bever MD 1845- , and 2 other endpapers blindstamped Dr. A.C.W. Williamson, Vincennes Indiana (presumably Almira after remarriage). From 1964 estate of Mrs. Sam Emison of Vincennes ( Newspaper auction clipping included). Like many books bound in this era of fragile leather, this does have condition problems. Mild wear to boards, with rubbing to corners covered in old clear tape (unfortunately frequently used in the old days for protection). Main flaws are at spine. Top third with gilt titles is covered in old clear tape which covers a 1.25 by .375 (app) chip. The center portion is covered in about 4 inch thick brown library tape and covers a large chip to make it presentable. The lower portion has a couple small dings. Internally a couple newsprint ghosts, and tape gutter repairs at last page, else very good. Please see or request pic or additional info. HEAVY: 5 lb rate for Priority and International. Size: 8vo - 7¾" - 9¾" Tall [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover]
