Tuskegee and its People: Their Ideals and Achievements
D. Appleton and Company, New York 1905 - First edition. 354pp. Frontispiece. Illustrations. Light rubbing to the corners, else a bright and fine copy in a very good example of the rare printed dustwrapper with some chips and tears, particularly where the crown meets the rear panel, and some professional internal reinforcement to the folds. A collection of essays and articles about the school and the achievements of its graduates by Tuskegee graduates and faculty including Mrs. Washington, Robert Moton, William Holtzclaw, Emmett J. Scott, George W. Lovejoy, and many others. This copy has a tipped-in page before the half-title with the printed note:"Compliments of Booker T. Washington." An attractive copy of a scarce title, most likely prepared for and distributed to potential philanthropists upon whom Tuskegee relied for financial support, particularly in its early years. The jacket is rare. [Attributes: First Edition]
