Dublin, printed for Messrs. H. Chamberlaine, W Colles et al. 1788. FIRST IRISH EDITION 1788. Pirated edition printed just after the first quarto edition. 8vo, approximately 215 x 130 mm, 8½ x 5 inches, pages: xvi, [1] 2--527, lacks half-title, the Appendix is "the Morai, an Ode by Miss Helen Maria Williams", bound in full sprinkled calf, red gilt lettered label to spine, gilt anchors and gilt rules to spine, marbled endpapers. Slight fading to spine, light scratches to covers, last page has tip of corner repaired, wormhole in outer margin persisting through the whole book, nowhere near text, varying in size but mostly pinhole size, another 2 small worm tracks from page 485 to the end runnimg through the text and affecting a few letters, but all easily understood, some pale staining affecting the last 5 pages in the Appendix, 2 tiny repairs to blank side of last page, small ink name crossed through on title page, occasional pale age-browning, occasional pale spot to margins, otherwise a good tight copy.
