London: George E. Eyre and William Spottiswoode, 1862.. FINELY BOUND. Quarto (33 x 28cm), unpaginated. With occasional steel engraved plates depicting Biblical locations and scenes. In contemporary brown full morocco, heavily embossed and debossed all over, with raised bands and gilt titles to spine. Two heavy brass clasps, and brass corner pieces to both boards. Brown endpapers; all edges gilt. In toto, a formidable object. Damage to title page at hinge; some spotting to prelims; heavy spotting around plates. Family registers partially filled in. Upper joint and spine somewhat rubbed. Good overall.
