FLIES IN AMBER by George Egerton [pseudonym] ..
London: Hutchinson & Co., 1905.. Octavo, pp. [i-iv] v-vii [viii] 1-303 [304: blank] + 32-page publisher's catalogue "for the Autumn, 1905" inserted at rear, original olive green cloth, front panel stamped in white and gold, spine panel stamped in gold. First edition. Mixed collection of short fiction. Wolff (in 2049a) notes that Egerton was a devotee and translator of Norwegian literature. The character of Guy Walsingham in "The Death of the Lion" was apparently a satirical portrait of Egerton. She was born in Australia of Irish ancestry before moving to England. A bright, very good copy. A scarce book, especially in nice condition. (#149769)
