Friendship album of Carl Gotthelf Welner from Schwarzenberg, Saxony.
Pforta, Leipzig, Dresden, Naumburg, Düben and other places, 1783-1811. - Oblong 8vo. 149 ff. with more than 200 entries and 12 drawings (mostly watercolours). Contemporary calf, spine and covers gilt, marbled endpaper. Carl Gotthelf Wellner was born at Schwarzenberg, in Saxony's Erzgebirge district near the German-Czech border. From 1778 to 1783 he attended the famous Pforta school in Schulpforta, enrolled at the juridical faculty of the University of Leipzig in 1784, finished his studies in 1787 and worked appr. from 1809 onwards as a factor at the alum mine Schwemsal at Thützen. His extensive tribal book (dedicated to "patrons and friends", transl.) contains more than 200 entries incl.
