The Lisbon Guide, or an historical and descriptive view of the the city of Lisbon and its environs, with notices of the chief places of interst in Portuguese estremadura.
Lisbon Antonio Joaquim de Paula 1853 - Second edition. Small 8vo (15 x 10 cm), pp.348, 10 engraved plates including 2 double-page, some foxing to a couple of plates, discreet stamp , ink inscription on title-page, marbled endpapers, bound in contemporary morocco backed mottled boards, spine gilt lettered and ruled, extremities worn; overall a good solid copy. This historical guide was originally published in 1848 as "The Stranger's Guide to Lisbon". Both editions are extremely scarce but this edition contains attractive engraved plates of the Cathedral, Aqueduct and several views including one of Cintra. Unusual work. [Attributes: Hard Cover]
