This work contains several tracts by Hutton on mathematical and philosophical studies. It contains articles on subjects such as 'The Theory of Bridges' as well as experiments on 'The Force of Gunpowder'. Complete in three volumes. Charles Hutton was a mathematician and surveyor. He is particularly remembered for his calculation on the density of the earth using Nevil Maskelyne's observations on the Scottish mountain Schiehallion. Condition: Rebound ina quarter cloth binding with paper covered boards. Externally, very smart with minor shelfwear to the head and tail of spines. Internally, all volumes are firmly bound. Pages are age toned with scattered spotting throughout. Overall: VERY GOOD..
