Survey of India, Calcutta 1883 - A large foldijng engraved map of the whole of India on a scale of 64 miles to 1 inch commenced under Thuillier and finsihed under Walker, coloured, dissected and mounted on linen, folding into contemporary black cloth covered boards, respined with orignal title INDIA relaid on the spine, boards marked and worn, the map is quite clean, old ownership signature of an officer in The Buffs to reverse of one plate. The map is coloured throughout India and Lower Burma, the more distant countries are shown uncoloured and the map shows full detail as far as Kabul and Kashmeer [sic] in the north and has some uncoloured detail beyond that as far as Yarkand. It also shows detail in Nepal and Tibet as far as Lhassa but is blank further north into Tibet. There is a small coloured inset map off the south coast showing the Malay Peninsula and Sumatra. British Territory is shown in pink, Dependent and Subordinate Native States in yellow and Independent States in green. railways are shown as in use or under construction.
