A complete run in 12 issues of the short-lived monthly architectural journal, edited by Martin Wagner and Adolf Behne, which captured the lively cultural atmosphere of Berlin under the Weimar republic, including essays on architecture by Marcel Breuer, Walter Gropius, Erich Mendelsohn, Bruno Taut, and Henry Van de Velde, and with literary contributions from Gottfried Benn, Alfred Döblin, Salomo Friedlaender (Mynona), and others, lists, hundreds of illustrations throughout the text and on plates showing architectural photos, maps, plans, modern graphic design, other artwork, etc., including photographs from Laszlo Moholy-Nagy, Sasha Stone, and Lotte Jacobi. 4to. Orig. printed cloth, orig. printed wrpps. bound in. Berlin (Deutsche Bauzeitung) 1929. Originally published in separate fascicules, the entire series was also published in the present form, bound in one volume. Modeled after the "new typography" and progressive cultural change showcased in Das Neue Frankfurt, and borrowing its naming convention, Das Neue Berlin, emphasized architecture and urban development in modern Berlin. At the time, Wagner served as the city's architectural adviser and chose the writer Behne as his editor-in-chief.
