The Art of Dining, or, Gastronomy and Gastronomers
John Murray - Paperback; English language; No jacket; Signed by author with dedication; 16mo - over 5.75" - 6.75" tall; a worn but readable copy; signed on blank endpaper 'The Hon'ble Ashley G J Ponsonby [indecipherable letters] from the author A. Hayward, London Dec 20th 1866' (the Honourable Ashley George John Ponsonby was a Liberal MP, whose maternal grandfather was the famous social reformer Anthony Ashley-Cooper, the 5th Earl of Shaftesbury, and whose paternal great-great-grandfather was John, the 1st Earl Spencer, a direct ancestor of Princess Diana - which our dedicatee was not); most listings indicate this was published in hardcover but listed here as a paperback as it is lacking its cover boards and the paper cover on the spine is fraying (though binding is firm); first half is HEAVILY WATER-STAINED but of light colour so it does not affect the readability of the text; the book doesn't give the name of the author (Abraham Hayward) though his initials are at the end of the Prefatory Notice; signed copies of this book appear to be incredibly scarce. Your book will be securely packed and promptly dispatched from our UK warehouse. For buyers outside the UK we now offer significantly lower rates on our airmail shipping. [Attributes: Soft Cover]
