Herzka, D.(orothy). POP ART ONE. New York: Publishing Institute of American Art, 1965. First Edition. Oblong 8vo. Spiral Bound Die-Cut Wrappers. Art Survey. Near Fine. np (32pp) + 27 individual b&w illustrations laid in. In a protective clear acetate dustwrapper. This charming little item edited by Dorothy Herzka (later to become Lichtenstein) is one of the earliest documents of the New York Pop Art movement. Innovatively designed in a double plastic comb bound die-cut portfolio format, it presents brief texts, photographic portraits, and four or five individual plates each for artists Jasper Johns, Roy Lichtenstein, Claes Oldenburg, Robert Rauschenberg, James Rosenquist, and Andy Warhol. A handsome, well-preserved complete example of this fragile item with Lichtenstein's explosion sticker unbroken and no cracks to the plastic comb-binding showing some minor wear and typical light soiling to its matte rear panel. PLEASE NOTE: Additional shipping costs are required for this item beyond our standard rates due to its value - we will inform you of the applicable amount at time of purchase.
