Port-au-Prince: Imprimerie Madame F. Smith [first item]; no printer or publisher imprint on second or third items, 1918. Presumed 1st eds. Hardcover. Very Good. First item: 127p. Second item: frontis, xiii, 76p. Third item: portrait, xxiv, 92p. Contemporary 3/4 leather, recently rebacked. 18cm. Internally sound with some soiling and wear.; the first 8 pages of poems in "Roses et Camelias" have some loss of text in the center of the pages (the missing text has been neatly ewritten out in pencil in the margins). All three items have been INSCRIBED by Moravia to Faith Van Valkenburgh Vilas, a well-to-do American who also wrote poetry. This volume also contains four original photographs of Moravia on blank pages in this volume, either pasted down or taped along edges as well as an autograph poem ("Le Surhomme") written out in pencil in the author's hand and dated 1914. At head of title on Second and third items" Biblioitheque Haitienne, Charles Moravia. Moravia, a great admirer of Heine, created his poetic French versions in the second and third items from Nerval's prose translations from Heine's German.
