Sydney: Hordern House, 1988. Foreword by Sir David Attenborough, commentary by Tim Bonyhady, and notes by John Calaby. A remarkable natural history of New South Wales, as observed and described by an early colonial official, Thomas Skottowe, in 1813, with watercolour illustrations commissioned by him from the convict artist, Richard Browne. The first and only publication of an early colonial treasure. This facsimile of the famous manuscript in the Mitchell Library won the prestigious Galley Club of Sydney Award for Excellence. Edition limited to 550 numbered sets. Two volumes, large octavo bound in original black cloth with slipcase, 310 mm x 195 mm., 80 pages + 112 pages, with 27 full-page watercolours and 26 pages of manuscript in colour-facsimile, a near fine copy.
