John Van Voorst, 1860. 8vo., First Edition thus [?], with tinted lithographed frontispiece and 7 tinted lithographed plates, frontispiece lightly spotted; original green coarse-grain cloth, upper board framed in blind and lettered in gilt, gilt back, primrose endpapers, uncut, a remarkably well-preserved, bright, clean copy. With the publisher's advertisement for the second edition of Griffith & Henfrey's Micrographic Dictionary mounted facing rear free endpaper. Published as 'Humble Creatures Part II' (but complete in itself. Part I deals with the Earthworm and the Common House-Fly). Freeman records this as the second edition, giving a first in 1858. VERY SCARCE IN THIS CONDITION. British Bee Books 296; Freeman 3297.
