Contemp. ownership inscriptions in ink on first titlepage verso reading 'Andrew Lawson 1810', & on second titlepage recto reading 'Margaret Lawson'. A nice copy of two scarce imprints in contemporary binding.Copac: The Ancient Minstrel in Oxford only; this edition of A Father's Legacy not recorded. The Ancient Minstrel is a small anthology of poetry, according to the titlepage 'every subject presented in this collection possesses some perceptive rule, moral sentiment, or elegant thought'. It is made up of 16 poems including Beaumont and Fletcher's 'The False Fair One', George Wither's 'The Shepherd's Resolution', and Jonson's 'The Sweet Neglect.' The two works both deal with moral behaviour, conduct, love, and friendship.
