39- London- The National Trade Press 1929 - A very scarce set of this 20th century trade periodical. Original source material. Produced by the National Trade Press. Volumes 9-18,covering 1929-1939. Each volume runs from May to April the following year. A trade periodical servings as the 'official organ of the National Federation of Boot Trades Associations, representing Shoe Retailers, Bespoke Bootmakers and Repairers throughout the British Isles'Contains articles relevant to the trade including union debates and abundant with trade advertisements, often in colour. Also includes reports from trade meetings, advice to retailers and manufacturers, and wider news expected to affect the trade. A valuable insight into the nature of the trade and of advertising during these pre-war years, with examples of machinery and technique. Very scarce, held at the British library but without a digital record, and no others on sale. Condition: In red cloth bindings. Externally, very smart with just some instances of light rubbing and fading, particularly to volume 17. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean, with just some marginal age toning in places.
