Big as Life
Simon and Schuster, New York 1966 - The author's scarcest book, his second (1966). A work of science fiction, which was disavowed by Doctorow and never reprinted. Review copy, bearing both the stamp Phyllis Jackson, International Creative Management, and a sticker for the International Famous Agency with Jackson's name (signature?) in manuscript. The later agency merged to form ICM in 1975. Doctorow's literary agent until her death in 1977, Jackson was known as an astute negotiator and represented writers from Theodor Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss, to Ian Fleming. Near fine dust-jacket, with some wear at the bottom edge and faint evidence of a price sticker removal on the front flap [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover]
