Fine pair of process-reproduced Bookplates designed byBaron Armin Eugene von FOLKERSAM (Tsesarevich, 1904-1918, Son of Nicholas II of Russia, murdered after the revolution) & his father NICHOLAS II (1868-1918, Last Emperor of Russia from 1894, assassinated after the revolution)
1907 - (1861-1917, Bookplate artist of Berlin & St Petersburg), the tsarevich is in gold, blue and black and shows an angel with gold wings holding the Russian Eagle bearing Nicholas II's monogram, artistic lettering in Russian "From the Library of H.I.H. the Heir Tsesarevich and Grand Duke Alexei Nikolaevich", and his father's shows a Russian Eagle holding Nicholas' monogram, and incorporates the collar of the Order of St Andrew and the State Arms, placed against the cross the St Andrew, below in artistic letters in Russian "Private Library: His Majesty's Winter Palace", no date, circa The Retovskii collection had about 70 ex-libris of his design. Apart from these bookplates he made ex-libris for the Tsarina Alexandra Feodorovna, her four daughters, other members of the Imperial Family and Ferdinand of Bulgaria. The bookplate for the Tsarevich was made in 1907 when HIH was only three years old.
