Two parts in one volume, as published. xxxii,239,196,[4],pp. Original blind-embossed calf with maroon title-label and gold decorated spine. John Northleigh (1657-1705) was a English author, physician, lawyer and royalist. In this early 18th century work the author documents the topography of the United Netherlands, Spanish Netherlands, France, the Dukedom (Duchy) of Savoy, as well as the principality (lordship) of Piedmont. Includes medico-physical & historico-political observations by Northleigh. Illustrated with one full-page engraving. With a "alphabetical list of the names of the most memorable places" visited by the author in rear of book. Bookplate of "William Odom" on inside of front board. Some age wear, scuffing and minor staining on binding. Gold decoration and lettering on spine faded. Head of spine chipped, rubbing along joints firmly holding. Tight copy with binding in good+, interior in good+ to very good condition.
