Second plate of four representing the four ages of man. Here a young man in the centre is looking at Minerva, pointing at the tools of working in the foreground left. Towards the background a palace is being built by worker men, in the landscape farmers and shepherds. In the central background a harbour with ships being unloaded. On the right women working at the spindle and other man harvesting. Lettered on the top:'LABOR', inscribed on the lower margin in Latin:'Inde ubi iam fimata virum me fecerit aetas... Et sera cupio posteritate coli'. Texs drawn from Eclogues, 4 by Virgil (70-19 BCE). In the foreground between the right foot of the man and the globe numbered '2'. Engaving on paper broad margins; platemark: 221 x 250 mm, total: 251 x 304 mm. Smaller plate than original, possibly Hollstein 1463 (c. PALL01
