Ueber Kern und Zelltheilung (pp.523-541, 3 Tafeln mit 33 Figs.).
Virch. Arch. path. Anat., 67. - Berlin, Verlag von Georg Reimer, 1876, 8, VI, 618 pp., 23 lith. Tafeln, Halbleinenband. First Edition! "The appearance of Strasburger's book in 1875 and Bütschli's long paper in 1876 prompted other authors to offer similar descriptions of mitosis in a range of different organisms. Among the earliest were W. Mayzell (1875) and C.J. Eberth (1876)." "In his 1876 paper, Carl Eberth (1825-1936), then a professor of pathology in Zurich, quotes Bütschli, Strasburger and von Ewetsky. He, too, claimed that he had already been studying epithelial regeneration in 1873 and 1874 but had not appreciated the significance of the mitotic figures he had observed. Now, however, he was convinced that they were analogous to what Strasburger had described in plants. The figures accompanying Eberth's paper show essentially all the stages of mitosis in both epithelium and endothelium undergoing regeneration." H.Harris, The Birth of the Cell (1998), p.148
