Genealogy Robert Keyes of Watertown, Mass., 1633. Solomon Keyes of Newbury and Chelmsford Mass., 1653. And Their Descendants; also Others of the Name
Geo. E. Selleck, Brattleboro 1880 - This book is from the library of Dorothy Sutherland Melville (author, genealogist, historian) and she had it rebound in July, 1989. We know this because she explains it along with her signature and a description of how she inherited it from Edith Tyler Platt (Melville has also put a small address sticker on the front paste down. She has also inserted a few underlines and a few marginal notes that add information sometimes as simple as identifying her grandmother other times adding dates and names. Along with this she has laid in several sheets of supporting documentation which includes a handwritten note from a granddaughter (Mary Jane Waite) of Daniel Keyes (Asa's older brother) to his youngest brother James. An original flyleaf has a note from the first owner "Edith T. Platt from her mother L. B. Keyes Tyler April 2nd 1880". other wise the book is clean, tight, square with sharp corners and unmarked. Its 319 pages are lightly toned and gilt edged all around. There is some damp stain on the lower corner of the last pages that does not penetrate to the text. The boards are covered in brown buckram with bright gold titles on the spine. This is a handsome book. [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover]
