Portrait of the goldsmith Louis Roupert.
Roupert began his carreer as goldsmith in his native city of Metz but moved to Paris in 1658. It is not known when he was born. The original portrait was painted by Pierre Rabon. Inscribed on the tablecloth on the right:'Louis Roupert M.tre Orfeure A Metz. / P. Rabon pinxit / Ludovicus Cossinus sculp. / Mariette excud.'."Engraving on paper, trimmed to platemark: total: 144 x 207 mm; small tear on the top, evenly yellowed. Th.
