Woman, In Her Social And Domestic Character. By Mrs. John Sandford.
London : Printed for Longman, Rees, Orme, Brown, and Green, Paternoster-Row, 1831 . 0. Scarce first edition. In a very good half leather binding. 12mo. 6.75" x 4.0" x 0.5". [8pp.]/pp.172 . Maroon calf spine and corners over marbled boards. Smooth spine with gilt banding and dulled gilt title: "Woman". Boards rubbed and scuffed. Endpapers lightly soiled. Clean English text throughout, just some light pencil underlining. Rear free-endpapers cut with 20% loss to last blank leaf (presumably to remove previous owner's detail?). A very good copy of this scarce publication. "Woman are perhaps, sometimes in danger spoilt; but they cannot complain that they are little valued. On the contrary, their powers are too highly rated. Their natural defects are overlooked; and the consideration in which they are held, the influence they possess, and the confidence placed in their judgement, are in some instances disproportionate with their true claims..." .
