Elkin Mathews, London 1913 - 16mo, 5 1/8" x 3 7/8", (13 x 9.5cm),32pp. Elizabeth Westermain is the pseudonym of Elizabeth McKinstry (1879-1956) -- poet, sculptor and illustrator of children's books. This tiny volume was one the publisher's "Savile" series of poetry books. There is a copy (with the author's corrections) among the Elizabeth MacKinstry papers at the Beinecke Library at Yale; others listed only at the Bodleian, the British Library and the National LIbrary of Scotland. This copy has a manuscript correction in ink on line five of page 22, and is inscribed on the front free endpaper: "this very tiny volume To (?) Howland with best regards from the author". Internally very good in rubbed green paper on boards, top edge of spine chipped. Included is a copy of "The Horn Book Magazine" for April, 1957, which has several memorial tributes to MacKinstry. One mentions :Helen's Mirror", though not by name. "She had, in addition, published a miniature but distinguished book of verse in England" [Attributes: First Edition; Soft Cover]
